What You’ll Do
- As the Payroll Specialist at Alsana, you will provide a vital role that is responsible for supporting the financial and administrative functions of the Business Office, ensuring adherence to proper internal controls, generally accepted accounting principles and the facility’s policies and procedures. Functions within this department include financial counseling, accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting.
- Manage all aspects of the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely production of employee pay checks for all locations.
- Process, validate, and maintain employee time worked data insuring compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as time keeping policies.
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll and obtain prior review and approval from the Controller prior to transmitting bi-weekly payroll.
- Ensure that the Company’s payroll and payroll reporting expense accounts are correct. Ensure proper cutoff on items affecting inter-period allocation.
- Assist when employees and managers have issues with payroll system usage, policy interpretation and other inquiries.
- Prepare calculations and reconcile compensatory time off, vacation, sick and personal time, employer costs (i.e. 401k, HSA) including preparation of required journal entries.
- Enforce accountability for procedures and deadlines with leaders and employees.
- Periodic Quality Assurance checks to ensure employee benefit enrollment premium deductions are in line with vendor data.
- Implementation of changes to processes and procedures because of an external payroll audit; perform periodic audits on a pre-determined interval.
- Subject matter expert for payroll and tax laws, regulations. Advise leader accordingly.

- Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting or Finance.
- Must have a minimum of 4 years prior payroll processing, and accounting experience.
- Experience handling payroll in multiple states, preferably California, with in-depth knowledge of various employment /wage and hour laws.
- Ability to make decisions independently
- Must have current ADP workforce payroll experience
