As Engineering Manager, you’ll guide a group of senior engineers working on Turbopack—the next-generation bundler powering web performance at scale. You’ll be responsible for shaping the roadmap, aligning product and engineering goals, and delivering high-impact tools that enhance both local development and cloud bundling. Your work will directly influence how developers build fast, scalable, and dynamic websites.Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage a high-performing team focused on Turbopack’s development and evolution
- Set technical direction for the bundler’s roadmap including performance, scalability, and framework integration
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align Turbopack with platform and product objectives
- Balance product delivery with long-term investments in system reliability and maintainability
- Support and mentor senior engineers, driving growth in both scope and impact
- Collaborate with open-source communities, internal stakeholders, and external developers
- Advocate for a world-class developer experience through tooling innovation and thoughtful design
- Proven experience managing engineering teams, ideally in systems, dev tooling, or compiler environments
- Strong technical foundation in JavaScript/TypeScript tooling, build systems, or low-level programming
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex products with significant technical depth
- Experience optimizing for performance, developer experience, and frontend framework compatibility
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote or hybrid team settings
- Comfortable working in ambiguity, driving strategy, and aligning cross-functional teams
- Bonus: Experience with Rust, large-scale build pipelines, or contributions to open-source tools like Webpack, esbuild, Babel, or SWC

- San Francisco base salary range: $192,000 – $288,000 (adjusted based on location)
