Job Category: Government AffairsJob Description:As part of IHG's Government Affairs Team for the Americas Region, the Manager of Government Affairs plays an integral role in advocating for IHG and its franchise owners across a broad scope of public policy priorities at the U.S. state and local levels of government.Your day to day
- Play a key role in both the development and execution of government affairs advocacy objectives and public policy priorities for IHG at the U.S. state and local levels of government.
- Manage a broad policy portfolio to advocate for or mitigate policy issues across multi states.
- Interact with external stakeholders, including policymakers and trade associations to achieve the company's government relations and public polict objectives.
- Identify and track emerging policy trends within policy portfolio. Work with cross functional partners to determine impact to IHG and to develop and execute mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with national and state trade associations to ensure alignment on policy priorities and strategies.
- Partner with Global Corporate Affairs colleagues and the IHG Owners Association to activate owner advocacy campaigns and provide policy updates to owners and key internal partners.
- Brief senior executives on priority policy issues and prepare company leaders for stakeholder engagement.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals.
- Support IHG's strategic external and owner engagement efforts in key markets.
- Reports to the Director, Government Affairs - State & Local within IHG's Global Corporate Affairs function.
- Knowledge of state and local legislative processes and government relations strategies.
- Multi-state government affairs experience preferred.
- Strong writing and analytical skills, as well as effective communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills - ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization.
- Able to work independently with limited required direction and guidance.
- Efficient, organized work style and an ability to prioritize quickly and confidently.
- 5+ years progressive work-related experience and a Bachelor's degree; political science or public policy preferred.
