Position Summary: The Lead YPA will provide the youth program, the Learning Center Coordinator, other staff and students with needed support. The Lead YPA will have daily administrative and programmatic duties to assist in maintaining appropriate student to staff ratio, adhere to program compliance and maintain safety. The Lead YPA will support their home learning center when absences or vacancies occur. Additionally, they will serve as a substitute as needed at other Learning Centers when there are absences or vacancies at other locations. Responsibilities will be carried out in a predominantly in-person setting with virtual programming if necessary.
- Essential Job Functions:
- Plan and lead meaningful activities that include but are not limited to arts and crafts, STEM/STEAM, reading, character development, physical fitness, and/or nutrition in a physical and online setting at home site and other sites as needed.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills such as navigating websites, use of email suites (Gmail, Outlook, etc…) and search engines, etc…
- Prior use of, or willingness to learn, online educational tools such as Google Classrooms, Zoom, ClassDojo, amongst others.
- Prepare the learning environment, lessons and necessary supplies for program activities
- Assist children with homework and academic enrichment activities
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom as well as common areas
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants
- Ensure safety and supervision of students
- Follow CDC Guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- To assist Foundation Communities Food Pantries with the following:
- As needed, assist with food bank pick-ups on time at the Central Texas Food Bank and help load food (up to 40lbs at a time) in Foundation Communities’ cargo van
- Unload orders from cargo van at properties and assist Health Initiatives staff set-up for food pantry in time for pantry to begin
- Collect and dispose of boxes used to transfer food
- Maintain open dialogue
- Assist with food dispensing at food pantries
- Assist with outreach and sign in sheets for food pantry recipients
- Clean-up food pantry area after food pantry is complete
- Other duties as assigned
- Comply with all required policies, procedures, and regulations
- Open and close the Learning Center when the coordinator is out of the office
- Serve as main point of contact for parents, staff and partners when Coordinator is out of office
- Enforce behavior management practices when Coordinator is out of office
- Make any necessary medical emergency phone calls when LC Coordinator is out of office
- Ensure compliance with all FC, food and community vendors, when Coordinator is out of office
- Manage daily program administrative duties: program attendance, meal reporting, I-Ready administration and reporting, data entry or requests for student info, assists in preparation of curriculum and instructional materials, ensures incident reports are completed and filed
- Serves as substitute as needed when there are staff absences at present Learning Center
- Serves as substitute at other Learning Center locations when needed as requested by supervisor(s)
- Ability to arrive on time to work locations, of which there may be various ones throughout the day
- Other duties as assigned
- Job Requirements:
- Available to work during the school year Monday through Friday (1:00pm-6:15pm) on a continual basis and may be reviewed if schedule changes during the Afterschool program
- Available to work during the Summer Program Monday through Friday (9:30am-3:30pm) on a continual basis and may be reviewed if schedule changes during the length of the Summer Program. Further variations may occur for food pantry coverage at some sites.
- Reliable transportation to travel to other FC sites as necessary.
- Minimum Qualifications (experience, education, credentials, language):
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and be able to pass a criminal background check (Fingerprint check required at all Austin ISD serving sites)
- 6 months experience working with children in similar setting
- Must have a high school diploma
- Flexibility to meet the changing work needs and demands
- Ability to lead various fitness activities as well supervise/participate in sports
- Ability to organize activities and make sound judgements
- Ability to interact with a range of age groups as well as diverse populations
- Preferred Qualifications
- Course work in Social Services, Education, Child Development & other related field
- Bi-lingual (Spanish, Arabic, other) preferred.
- Physical Demands/Work Environment :( include amount of lifting, twisting, bending, sitting, standing, keyboarding, driving, noise, indoor/outdoor etc.)
- Occasional lifting, twisting, bending standing and sitting
- Frequent walking and participation in basic exercise movements
- Often exposed to various temperatures and conditions including but not limited to sun, wind and rain.
- An occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials may occur.
- May be asked to clean up bodily fluids with appropriate training and personal protective equipment provided.
- Ability to work in all types of climate atmospheres, such as hot, raining or wet environments. Inside and outside.
- Ability to arrive to work locations of which there may various ones throughout the day

Compensation: Pay range $15-16 an hour depending on experience and location.
